Empty Bowls

What is Empty Bowls?

Empty Bowls events are held by potters in communities throughout North America with the objective to raise funds and awareness for local charities that work to relieve hunger and homelessness.

During our event, patrons select a handmade bowl from the hundreds on display in our bowl selection area. Pine Tree Potters' Guild members work all year to create and donate approximately six hundred bowls. Patrons are captivated by both the large number and varied artistry of the bowls. After making their selection, patrons proceed to the dining auditorium where local culinary establishments are ready to serve a ladle of their signature gourmet soups and artisan breads, all donated as well. After enjoying multiple dishes of delicious soups, guests take their selected handmade bowl home to serve as a gentle reminder that not everyone has a full bowl every day.

Pine Tree Potters' Guild has been hosting Empty Bowls events since 2010 and has raised over $258,200.00 for local charities. Inn From the Cold in Newmarket and Welcoming Arms in Aurora are the current beneficiaries of the event.

This year's event will be be held on November 21 at the Old Town Hall in Newmarket.
