Artist Biography

Dave Schembri has been making pottery since the mid 1990's, first taking hand-building and wheel throwing classes with Gay Liddel at Turning Point Studio in Pickering Ontario. At this time Dave became a member of Durham Potters' Guild. Dave has attended many pottery workshops and classes including Raku Techniques 1 & 2 workshops with Michael Sheba and Advanced Throwing with the late Les Manning at the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts in B.C.

Dave has conducted many Raku workshops at the Visual Arts Centre, Bowmanville, ON for adults and high school students and for galleries and guilds. He recently began teaching Beginner Wheel classes.

Upon moving to Newmarket, ON., Dave joined Pine Tree Potters' Guild in 2011. He is an active member at the guild volunteering as a Director, Program Manager and Empty Bowls committee member.

Dave enjoys experimenting with clay and glazes creating functional and one of a kind decorative and sculptural pieces.
