View From The Pines

"Growing up in rural Saskatchewan on a mine property was my first introduction to clay. I would go through shale piles looking for artifacts and fossils from days gone by. My fascination with clay came about as a result of this childhood experience.
My formal introduction to pottery came from courses at Seneca College - King Campus. I became a member of the York Potters' Guild until we branched out to form the Pine Tree Potters' Guild (40 years ago). I have a studio in my home in Aurora.
This art is an homage to the work of our First Nation brothers and sisters. Inspired by their pottery and weaving I had a vision of this fusion of material and artistry melding into an act of reconciliation with this country's true forefathers."
